Who we are

Newton Zion Reformed Church was established in 1909. Newton Zion is part of the Reformed Church in America, and you can learn about this historic denomination at www.rca.org.  We believe the tenets of the historic Christian faith, and see the scripture as our rule for faith and life.  God loves us, and sent his only son, our Savior Jesus Christ, to take our sin and guilt upon himself so we may have a relationship with God eternally.  Our church is Reformed.  Our roots go back to the Protestant Reformation, but we are constantly being re-formed by God's Word.

Our Pastor

Pastor Shannon and his family came to Newton Zion in 2006. He has an undergrad degree in Biblical Studies from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. His wife, Louisa, is a social worker for Genesis Hospice. His daughter, Leela, lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband Heriberto and their daughter Zaniyah. “Eddie” is a schoolteacher and varsity soccer coach and Leela is on staff with Young Life in Holland, Michigan.

In his free time Shannon is a substitute school bus driver, pours concrete and enjoys fishing, golf and riding his motorcycle. He and his best bud, Nelly (the German Shepherd), never miss a daily trip to Caseys for a Diet Coke and a beef jerky stick.
